Lendmark Financial has committed to raise $500,000 and to walk 5 million steps to conquer childhood cancer.  Steps will be accrued by Lendmark employees who will either walk or run around a track or climb stadiums. 100% of the money raised by Lendmark will go directly to CURE Childhood Cancer and will be allocated to pediatric cancer research.

Childhood cancer research is something Lendmark’s CEO, Bobby Aiken, is very passionate about.  Bobby has been touched several times throughout his life by childhood cancer and illness. These experiences have fueled his desire to help families affected by cancer and to raise money specifically for pediatric cancer research.

The 2019 Climb To A Million takes place on Saturday, August 17th, 2019.  100% of the proceeds go directly to CURE Childhood Cancer. Please join us in our fight to end childhood cancer by making a donation today!

Inspiration behind the Climb: Chip Madren

Bobby has been a close friend to Ken Madren and his family since he was 8 years old. 8 years ago Ken’s son, Chip, was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Anaplastic Medulloblastoma (Brain Cancer) and was given a very slim chance for survival. Thanks to the capable doctors at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), cutting-edge treatments, hundreds of prayers, and Chip’s determination to overcome the monster that is cancer, (which held him back for eight years) he finally defeated the beast.

Bobby was so impressed with CHOA, the amazing team of doctors and nurses, and the care that Chip received that he wanted to find a way to give back and to help find a cure for childhood cancer.

How’s Chip Doing?

Chip is now 22 years old and was blessed with the opportunity to receive a service dog from Canine Assistants. Her name is Vera and she is a blessing to Chip and everyone who meets her. Chip is hard at work for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources where he works with local gun ranges to make sure that they are all handicap accessible. Chip lives at home with his 2 parents, 2 younger brothers, and his service dog, Vera.

Although his cancer is gone, there are still plenty of other struggles that come along. Childhood cancer awareness is an amazing thing, but the main goal is to prevent cancer from ruining countless lives nationwide.
