Welcome to Team JoJo's Cure Fundraiser
JoJo was our healthy, active, energetic, and sweet 2 year old boy. On November 18, 2016, our lives changed very suddenly. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a very aggressive and fast spreading blood cancer. It is the most common form of childhood cancer, and prior to the 1970s, was basically terminal, giving the child only weeks to live. Thanks to advances in cancer treatment, the survival rate for ALL has improved dramatically. However the treatment remains a long 3 years of daily chemo treatment, countless bloodwork and IV treatments, multiple bone marrow aspirations and spinal taps. For our baby, cancer stole a part of his childhood, and certainly his innocence to the harsh realities of fighting not only cancer, but all of the germs and dangers to a child with a compromised immune system. We live with an almost constant fear of relapse and also of the effects of the toxins used to fight off leukemia.
We realize that we are the “lucky ones”. Our child’s cancer has a proven treatment and an excellent chance of 5 year survival, and God-willing, a cure. Too many children are not given the same odds, as many childhood cancers have no cure or much lower survival rates. 1 in 5 children diagnosed with cancer will not survive 5 years past diagnosis.
Please support Team JoJo as we race for a cure for childhood cancer, so that children, parents and families never have to say goodbye to their precious warriors.
