Panthers 4 CURE
WELCOME to Panthers 4 CURE!
CURE Childhood Cancer is an incredible organization dedicated to raising funds for childhood cancer research and also supporting families affected by the diagnosis. This year, though, CURE is stepping up its game even further.
Recently I had the opportunity to tour Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Egleston Hospital, and the most memorable moment for me was witnessing researchers preparing treatments in the new $6 million Precision Medicine Lab in the Aflac Cancer Center that was entirely funded by CURE. Precision medicine is the most promising development in clinical trials as it uses genetic testing to determine the best targeted treatment for each child's specific cancer type -- it may even put an end to the one in five diagnosed children who die from childhood cancer because there is no treatment for their type. It currently costs $5,000 for one advanced stage child to be treated in this way. (As technology improves in the future, that number will go down.) Therefore, my goal for this year's run is to raise $5,000 and save a life. This is where YOU come in.
Please consider helping by making a donation as our Panthers 4 CURE team runs to save lives for the fifth year in a row. Last year, my personal fundraising for the team exceeded $5,000 thanks to the generous donations of people like you. Even small donations add up and make the BIGGEST difference....ESPECIALLY because we have a donor who is going to MATCH our team's total fundraising! That's right.. our fundraising will be doubled!
As I replay in my mind one of the impactful scenes from Lauren’s Run, that of a little man of under five years old, wearing a red survivor bandana, limping through the 50-foot Tot Trot, determination on his face visible even through the surgical mask that protected him from lurking pathogens, I am grateful for my health and forever motivated to support this cause.
