25th Annual Lauren's Run and CURE Picnic

Team Jared

It is hard to believe this will be the 6th year Team Jared will be participating in Lauren's Run. Team Jared began April 2014, approximately 1 week after the death of Jared Forman. Jared was only 7yo when he died from Glioblastoma Multiforme (a malignant brain tumor) on April 18, 2014.

Jared's story is very different than most stories people hear about childhood cancer. It began April 15, 2014 while celebrating Passover at synagogue with his father and older brother Joshua. Jared laid down on the couch in the lobby of the synagogue and appeared to be taking a nap. Unfortunately Jared never woke up from that "nap." It wasn't until we arrived at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), did we come to find out Jared had a malignant brain tumor that had burst. Unlike most children diagnosed with cancer, for Jared there was no opportunity for treatment and no chance of recovery. Jared was found to be brain dead.

Jared was in the first grade at the Davis Academy when he died. He enjoyed playing sports and music. He was learning how to play the electric guitar and was on a baseball team. Jared wanted to be a rockstar and a professional football player when he grew up. He was a very loving and caring boy, and was exceptionally close with his brother Joshua, who is 3 years older than Jared.

Since Jared died our family has participated in various fundraisers in Jared's memory to help raise money in hopes of finding a cure for childhood cancer. Even though Jared lived only 7 years and 5 months, he continues to have a strong impact on people. Please help us raise money in Jared's memory so that other families do not have to live the nightmare of losing a child to this horrible disease.
